Aurélie Dematons’ educational background in the perfume industry is atypical. She graduated from a prestigious business school and was trained in the creation of perfumes, thus combining expertise in marketing with a perfect technical knowledge of fine perfumery. In addition to these rare skills, she has accumulated more than 17 years of experience in the creation of personal care products at Coty’s, in olfactory training sessions, as well as in the elaboration of olfactory signatures. She also teaches at the Ecole Supérieure du Parfum, and is a regular contributor of technical studies for Cosmétique Magazine and Expression Cosmétique. In 2010, she founded le Musc & la Plume. Translating words into raw material or raw materials into words has become Aurélie’s daily activity.
She likes: to board a plane; blue M&Ms; to take her time to smell the fragrance of a wine and to forget it when the bottle is empty; the smell of the warm nape of the necks of her two sleeping boys; to follow people wearing an unknown perfume; to listen to God(=David Bowie); the Canal Saint-Martin during summertime; the poetic touch of a Mathias Enard’s text.
Her favourite materials: bergamot, pink bay / pepper, galbanum, oak moss, ambroxan.
After obtaining a post-graduate diploma in marketing (DESS) from the University of Paris Dauphine, Maryline starts her carrier at Yves Saint Laurent Beauté and Cartier Parfums in the market development area. She then works for an olfactory training and fragrance counselling company, where she totally masters the language of fragrances, raw materials and olfactory creation. Thanks to her comprehensive knowledge of the perfume market, the trends and the brands she developed a dual skill in both olfaction and marketing. In 2015, she joined Le Musc & La Plume so that her expertise meets brands’ needs.
She likes: to seize the day, the soul of Paris, to enjoy simple pleasures, to share, the international Klein blue, musc, rock, jazz, delicate papers, watercolours, Haruki Murakami, classical ballets, les enfants du paradis (Children of paradise, the French movie from Marcel Carné), old movies, Gustave Klimt, the equestrian theatre Zingaro, mosaic pictures, Corto Maltese, spicy food, honey, peonies and anemones, the cat’s gracefulness.
Her favourite materials: sandalwood, vetiver, pepper, labdanum, vanilla, musc.
